Kelsey Huus is now Professor Huus!

We are beyond thrilled and proud that our very own Kelsey Huus will join the faculty of the University of Ottawa as Assistant Professor & Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Nutrition. Kelsey obtained her Ph.D with Prof. Brett Finlay at the University of British Columbia, where she studied intestinal microbial communities in early life undernutrition. She joined the Department of Microbiome Science as a post-doctoral researcher right at the start of Covid in 2021. She was able to find a silver lining by leveraging the fevers brought on by covid booster shots into a fascinating study (uHeat) of the microbiomes’ interaction with diet in the promotion of fever. Kelsey won a prestigious EMBO fellowship for her work and a CMFI Young Investigator Award. The Huus lab at the University of Ottawa will continue her work on the interactions of the microbiome and diet in human health. We are sad to see her go and can’t wait to follow her scientific voyage! Until she sets up her lab webpage, follow her on Bluesky @kelseyhuus.bsky.scocial
