Yesterday, Jacobo successfully defended his thesis titled “Insights into the human gut microbiome and its link with obesity and cardiometabolic diseases”. During the last 4.5 years in the Ley Lab he has developed new methods and computational approaches to study the gut microbiome, established new tools to improve metagenomic surveys, and generated a ton of new data on understudied methanogens and human populations. His publication record is absolutely impressive and his achievements are unmatched. He was honored with “summa cum laude” – the highest possible grade! We are incredibly proud of you and grateful for all the time, effort, and passion you put into your work and all the other projects you were involved in. We are wishing you only the best for the future.
