It was a great pleasure for us to host Prof. Dominic Campopiano, from the School of Chemistry of the University of Edinburgh. He and his group have been studying how bacteria, mammals and yeast produce sphingolipids, essential components of the cell membrane which play important roles in regulation and metabolism. Dr. Campopiano gave a fascinating talk titled "Sphingolipid biosynthesis in man and microbes", and together with Dr. Peter Harrison, a postdoctoral research associate in his group, had the opportunity of meeting several of the Leylab members.
